Privacy statement

Young BID is an initiative of Big Improvement Days B.V. This statement explains which personal data we process, why, and what your rights are.

Last updated: 18 September 2026

1. Who processes your data

Big Improvement Days B.V., registered at Bankaplein 2, 2585 EV The Hague, is the controller for the personal data collected through ybid.nl.

Young BID is not a separate legal entity but a programme of Big Improvement Days B.V. For questions about this statement, use the contact details at the bottom of this page.

2. What we collect

We only collect what you give us yourself. When you apply for membership we ask for:

β€” First and last name

β€” Email address

β€” Age, organisation or school and your current role (optional)

β€” Your LinkedIn profile (optional)

β€” Which description fits you and which themes interest you

β€” Your answer to what you want to improve (up to 300 characters)

Our server also briefly processes your IP address at the moment you submit the form. We use it only to limit abuse of the form; we do not store it in a database and we do not use it to track you.

3. Why we process it

We use your data to review your application, to contact you about Young BID, and to invite you to events and activities that match your interests.

The legal basis is your consent: you provide the data yourself by submitting the form. You can withdraw that consent at any time by emailing us.

We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling, and we do not sell it.

4. How long we keep it

If you become a member, we keep your data for as long as you are part of the community and for up to two years afterwards, so we can still reach you about reunions or later editions.

If you do not become a member, we delete your application within twelve months of the review.

You can always ask us to delete it sooner.

5. Who we share it with

We share your data only with parties that help us run Young BID, and only as far as necessary:

β€” Our hosting provider, Vercel, which serves the website and runs the form's endpoint

β€” The system in which we review applications and keep in touch

We have data processing agreements with these parties. We do not pass your data to partners or sponsors without your explicit consent, and not to countries outside the European Economic Area unless an adequate level of protection applies.

6. Cookies and measurement

This site places two functional cookies: one that remembers the language you read in, and one that records the choice you make in the cookie banner. Neither says who you are, and neither follows you to other websites.

No analytics or advertising cookie is active today. If measurement is ever added, it will run only for visitors who accepted it, and the cookie statement is updated before it goes live.

Every cookie is listed, with its purpose and lifetime, in our cookie statement. You can change or withdraw your choice there at any time.

Some pages carry a YouTube video. It loads only after you click play; until then no request goes to YouTube at all. Once you do click, YouTube's (Google's) terms and privacy policy apply from that moment. We use YouTube's nocookie variant.

7. If you email us

When you email us, we process your address and whatever you write, for as long as it takes to handle your question and for our own administration afterwards.

Please do not send us special categories of personal data β€” health, religion, political views β€” that we did not ask for.

8. Your rights

You have the right to:

β€” Access your data

β€” Have it corrected if it is wrong

β€” Have it deleted

β€” Restrict the processing

β€” Object to the processing

β€” Receive your data in a common format or have it transferred

Email the address at the bottom of this page. We respond within four weeks. If you disagree with how we handle your data, you can lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

9. Minors

Young BID is aimed at young people, but the application form is intended for people aged sixteen and over.

If you are under sixteen, you may only apply with the consent of a parent or guardian. If we find we have received data from someone under sixteen without that consent, we delete it.

10. Security

The website is served entirely over HTTPS. Data from the application form does not go straight from your browser to an external system but through our own server, so that the checks and limits can be enforced.

Access to applications is limited to the people organising Young BID.

11. Changes

We may update this statement, for example when we start using a new system. The date at the top of this page shows when we last did. For significant changes we inform members by email.
